Sabine County VINE Coverage Today
Texas ended its county-level VINE service and replaced it with Texas IVSS-Counties. The portal supports searches and notification requests tied to county-jail data from participating agencies. Sabine County participation was not conclusively established in the official material reviewed. Check the live agency list or call the help line before assuming the Sabine County Jail feeds the service.
The separate TDCJ IVSS covers people in Texas prison custody or under TDCJ parole or mandatory supervision. It is not a mirror of the Sabine County Jail. A person released locally on bond may never appear there, while a person transferred from Sabine County to TDCJ may appear after state intake and data processing.
Neither portal is a federal locator. A federal prison record belongs in the Bureau of Prisons locator, and current immigration detention belongs in ICE's locator. Choosing the wrong system creates false non-matches.
Search a Sabine County IVSS Record
Use IVSS-Counties for a county booking and TDCJ IVSS for state prison or state supervision. Names alone can collide. Agency numbers, birth information, and the named facility provide stronger identity checks. Record the search time because a custody status can change after the page loads.

- In IVSS-Counties, search by full or partial name, TDCJ or DOC ID, SID, jail ID, or permanent booking number, then complete the CAPTCHA.
- If spelling is uncertain, try the first three letters of the first and last names separated by a space, as the portal suggests.
- Compare the exact identity, reporting agency, facility, and custody status. Do not merge two similar names.
- Open the matched record and note the system timestamp. Confirm exact release date and type with the Sabine sheriff or TDCJ.
The Sabine County released-inmate record path is the better route when the question concerns a past jail release rather than a pending alert.

The returned details depend on the source agency and record. Read every label in context. An “Unknown/Undisclosed” location must not be interpreted as release because the portal says it may relate to a pending court case. Likewise, disappearance from results is not an affirmative released status.

A release alert reflects a source-agency event, but the Sabine County Sheriff remains custodian of the county booking and release record. Ask for the exact time, release code in words, and receiving agency if transferred. TDCJ supplies the state release or supervision record.

IVSS-Counties says a notification request may be made with or without an account. Available methods can include email, SMS, telephone, or TTY. Telephone users can choose whether messages may arrive during the after-hours period shown by the portal. Availability depends on the matched person, agency feed, and current interface.
- Open the exact matched record and choose the notification option offered there.
- Select the available email, text, telephone, or TTY method. Review any after-hours choice.
- Enter and recheck the destination. Complete the verification or confirmation prompts displayed now.
- Save the confirmation. If account creation is unavailable, try the no-account person-level route or call 866-268-8959.
- Update or cancel the request when contact details or safety needs change. Do not depend on one alert for an urgent deadline.
Current material does not instruct telephone users to create the old four-digit VINE acknowledgment PIN. Historical brochures said callers entered that PIN plus the pound sign to stop repeated calls. That procedure is superseded. Current IVSS documentation instead shows a security question on the account form.

Confirm a Sabine County IVSS Alert
Notification information is not the official release record, and Texas does not guarantee its accuracy, completeness, or timeliness. A missing person may have been released, transferred, entered under different data, or omitted because the agency does not participate. A displayed release may also leave unanswered whether the person entered the community or another custodian took control.
For county custody, call the Sabine County Sheriff at 409-787-2266 for present status. For documentary proof, hand-deliver or mail a focused request to P.O. Box 848, Hemphill, TX 75948. Ask for the booking number, release date and time, release type, and receiver. For state custody, use TDCJ search, TDCJ IVSS, and the Parole Division as appropriate.
The Bureau of Prisons locator covers federal sentences from 1982 forward and may show “Released” or “Not in BOP Custody.” ICE's locator is a current or recent immigration-custody tool, not a durable release history. A non-match in either system does not prove community release.
Texas VINE Changed for Sabine
Texas replaced county VINE with IVSS-Counties on September 1, 2025. Existing registrations migrated to the new provider. A person using a migrated online account is prompted to change the password on first login, while existing text and telephone notices continue through the replacement service.
The transition created two distinct Texas notification layers. IVSS-Counties receives participating county-jail data. TDCJ IVSS handles state prison and TDCJ parole or mandatory supervision. Sabine County participation in the county layer still must be checked through the live portal or the 24-hour help line. The sheriff remains the local confirmation source even when an alert arrives.
The Texas Attorney General transition notice documents the replacement, migrated registrations, alert categories, and support route. This change is why “VINELink inmate check” remains a useful search phrase but no longer describes the current Texas county workflow.
Sabine County Notification Events
The Texas Attorney General describes county notification events that can include booking, release, court activity, death, escape, and transfer to TDCJ. The event available for one record depends on the source agency and its feed. A court event is not the same as physical release. A TDCJ transfer means county custody ended while state custody began. Read the event name and responsible agency before acting on an alert.
Delivery may use text, telephone, email, or other methods displayed in the portal. TDCJ Victim Services separately offers state notification combinations that can include letter, email, and text, with some telephone notices. Keep the county and state registrations separate when a person moves between systems. An old county registration may migrate, but it does not become a TDCJ custody registration by implication.
Alerts help track changes, but they should not be the only source for an emergency, court appearance, pickup plan, or legal deadline. Save the confirmation, keep contact details current, and call the responsible office when timing matters. A delayed message does not change the agency's actual event time.
Match Sabine IVSS Identities Carefully
Full or partial names are useful starting points, but they are weak proof by themselves. Compare the jail ID, permanent booking number, SID, TDCJ number, agency, facility, and other displayed identity data. Middle names may be shortened and aliases may differ. If two records look similar, do not combine them. Return to the sheriff or TDCJ with the agency number.
No result is inconclusive for several reasons. IVSS-Counties expressly warns that people no longer in custody may not appear, Sabine participation has not been conclusively verified, and data can be delayed. The person may also have transferred to TDCJ, another county, USMS, or ICE. Follow the custody trail rather than calling every absence a release.
A registry is not a substitute. The Texas DPS Sex Offender Registry covers only people with a current legal duty to register. Most released people are outside that class, and absence says nothing about their custody history. Use the registry only for its narrow statutory purpose and confirm the release through the custodian.
